I have a 1967 registered/1966 built Sprite. The number on the Chassis Plate ties up with the V5C and Heritage Certificate and gets the car through MOT. However, the plate itself is ‘tatty’ and may have been replaced in a previous restoration – I attach a photo (number partially obliterated for confidentiality). Can anyone tell me whether this is the correct style of plate AND should the numbers be punched from the front or back?
Where can I get a replacement chassis plate and engine number plate for my 1958 frogeye ?
Certainly engine numbers were reversed stamped but I thought VIN plates were stamped from the front
You should be able to obtain these (subject to supplying proof of car ownership etc) from MiniMail, Springbank Farm, Briery Hill Lane, Kilcot, Glos GL18 1NH. Email: spares@minimail.co.uk or Visit: www.minimail.co.uk. Now … do you know whether the STYLE of my Chassis Plate shown in my photograph is correct?
The style of your chassis plate looks correct but if my 67 plate is original the stamp does look different. I can send you a picture.
A good place to get chassis plates and stickers
